Baraka Sekadende is a Senior Fisheries Research officer, and currently a Center Director at the Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI)-Mwanza Center. She is a multi-disciplinary research scientist, with a wide range of research interests including fisheries biology, management and conservation; phytoplankton ecology, nutrients cycling in aquatic ecosystems and aquatic pollution in general. She has participated and supervised several research projects and delivered the outstanding outputs including publications, policy Briefs and reports. She holds a B.Sc. in marine Biology and Oceanography from the University of Dar es Salaam, MSc in Environmental Science and Technology from UNESCO-IHE Delft, the Netherlands, and a PhD in Aquatic Science from the University of Dar es salaam. She has more than 15 years of working experience, having published more than 15 peer reviewed articles in aquatic sciences.
