THE WORLD BANK-SUPPORTED PROJECT

The Global Director of Environment, Natural Resources, and Blue Economy, Valerie Hickey (third from the right), visited the Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI) as part of the World Bank delegation. The purpose of the visit was to gain a better understanding of the World Bank-supported project, the South-West Indian Ocean Fisheries Governance And Shared Growth Project (Swiofish), on November 10, 2023, from 9:45 AM to 4:00 PM.

Visit objective:

(i) To understand the World Bank supported South West Indian Ocean Fisheries Governance and Shared Growth Project (SWIOFish) project operation in Tanzania,

(ii) To learn TAFIRI capacity to conduct fisheries research for informed fisheries development sector in Tanzania as the result of World Bank SWIOFish project support, and

(iii) To meet TAFIRI and Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development (MLF) senior officials from the government
